Research carried out at Addenbrooke's Hospital used FEMGV to model a human mandible. The data was obtained from an MRI scanner and a triangular surface mesh was created. The tetrahedral mesher was particularly useful as the shape of a jaw bone cannot easily be modelled using mapped meshable regions, and a free volume mesher is required.
High order tetrahedra were used in the analysis, and displacements were compared with experimental results. The tet -mesher used in FEMGV is fast and produces high quality elements. The picture shows a colour postscript plot for inclusion in technical reports.
