Dear Vitas, You cannot
Dear Vitas,
You cannot convert the .dat file to a .G7? file. You can open the data file using a text editor and modify it manually, but I would not advice you to do that. In the case of a very simple model, it can be very easy to modify manually the data file, but if you model is large and complex, it will be very complicated to modify the data file manually (and the risk to introduce mistakes is very high).
Regarding the problem you encountered with the G71 file, do you get an error message when you open it? if you can provide more information about your problem, maybe we can find a solution.
Kind regards,

Hi Jean thanks for the
Hi Jean
thanks for the reply. the problem with the G71 is that when you try to make any changes and save them it freezes and windows force the programme to close with no clear message.
with my experience with Diana i do not think it is reslovable. the only thing i hoped is to convert dat to G which seems to be impossible

Mesh Editor
I don't know what changes you would like to make to your model. This makes it hard to help you. Did you ever try the mesh editor. It's a nice tool for small changes like tuning material parameters.
thanks Arno. i need to change
thanks Arno. i need to change the boundary conditions (constraint) of two surfaces of the model. can the mesh editor do this??
many thanks for your help

Sorry, constraints cannot be edited in this manner
Sorry to disappoint you. Constraints can currently only be viewed in the Mesh Editor. The way I see it you have two options.
