Radiation Heat Transfer

I am trying to carry out a thermal analysis on a composite beam and I am having problems specifying the modes of heat transfer.

I found a function defined in DIANA User Manual which allows for the radiative discharge by applying a value for the emissivity.  The User Manual states that the radiative discharge occurs according to an equation which relates the discharge to the following; emissivity, Stefan Boltzmann constant and Temperature4.

I have been using this radiative heat transfer function along with the convective heat transfer function but the temperature values being produced in the structure are proving to be lower than expected.  I have checked all of the other input data relating to thermal properties and they seem fine.

I am also using Kelvins as the unit of temperature.

Could anybody advise me on how I should apply the radiative heat transfer to the beam. I am currently using the EMISSI function by specifying the Emissivity value for the boundary elements.

Thanks
