PREFACE
The DIANA 9.4.3 Installation Manual for RedHat Enterprise Linux systems describes the procedure to install DIANA on a UNIX system.
Cautionary Note
Throughout this manual, it will be assumed that the reader has a basic understanding of software engineering and software management in general and of the RedHat Enterprise Linux operating system in particular. Moreover, some familiarity with the DIANA vocabulary as used in the User’s Manuals is desirable.
1. Introduction
The DIANA 9.4.3 Installation Manual for RedHat Enterprise Linux systems describes the procedure for installation of the new DIANA 9.4.3 release, including the pre- and postprocessing package iDIANA. The word “install” is used for the process of reading in from DVD the DIANA 9.4.3 product suite executables and all the other files needed in a DIANA run-time environment.
2. How to Install
To install DIANA 9.4.3 do the following in sequence:
1. Login as user diana943, if it is the first time, ask your systems manager to make a user diana943. Please note that DIANA has to be installed in the DIANA 9.4.3 user's logon directory (from now on it is assumed that the DIANA9.4.3 logon directory is /usr1/diana943).
2. Position the DIANA 9.4.3 DVD in the DVD player and mount the DVD drive. If your drive did not mount automatically, you must mount the DVD in a directory in your file system (From now on it is assumed the DVD device is mounted in /media/dvd). To mount the DVD, first become root, as shown below. If you don't know your root password, consult your system administrator.
% su
Password: root_password
Then type in the following command:
% mkdir /media/dvd
Then use the mount command:
% /bin/mount -r dvdrom_device /media/dvd
If you mounted the DVD manually, do not forget to logout as root after
mounting.
3. Execute the DIANA 9.4.3 install program relevant for your machine. For example for a 64 bit RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 system:
/media/dvd/packages/Ix86_64/Linux/ES5/install
4. Create a new shell:
sh
5. Activate the DIANA environment:
. ./.dialogin
6. After correct initialization of the DIANA Environment, you should type diadate and diafck, capture the output and send it to your DIANA support organisation. This information contains machine specific information, and will be used to create keyfiles for your licensed modules. After reception of the keyfile (diafgv.k72), you must place it in the directory
/usr1/diana943/share/lib.
7. Leave the shell with <ctrl>D and logoff.
3. User environment settings
The file .dialogin must be invoked by each user to set the proper environment symbols. Usually this is done manually by the user like this.
Bourne-shell users create a DIANA 9.4.3 environment by typing:
. /usr1/diana943/.dialogin
C-shell users create a DIANA 9.4.3 environment by (typing, or in .login):
source ~diana943/.dialogin.csh
